The tips used on the Oto are designed with a wide base and soft tip to prevent them from reaching the eardrum and maximize comfort during an exam. It is not uncommon for young children to express some discomfort during an exam but they should not experience pain. You know your child best. If he or she is reacting in a way that is unusual compared to past exams conducted by a pediatrician, remove the Oto and consult a healthcare provider.
